James Bond (Brosnan) is back. A oil tycoon is murdered in MI6 and Bond is sent to protect his daughter. Renard (Carlyle) who has a bullet lodged in his brain from a previous agent is secretly planning the destruction of a pipeline. Bond gains a hand from a research scientist, Dr. Christmas Jones (Richards) who witnesses the action which happens when Bond meets up with Renard, but Bond becomes suspicious about Elektra King (Marceau) , especially when Bond's boss, M (Dench) goes missing. Bond must work quickly to prevent Renard from destroying Europe.

IMF agent Ethan Hunt has been sent on a mission to retrieve and destroy the supply of a genetically created disease called 'Chimera'. His mission is made impossible due to the fact that he is not the only person after samples of the disease. He must also contest with a gang of international terrorists headed by a turned bad former IMF agent who has already managed to steal the cure called 'Bellerophon' and now need 'Chimera' to complete their grand plan of infecting the whole world. In order to infiltrate and locate the terrorist group he relies on the help of an international thief Nyah of whom he quickly develops a love interest. Isabel and Clara are growing up in a time of terror. It is 1492, and Spain has decreed that all Jews must either convert to Catholicism, go into exile or face trial and execution. Although forcibly baptized, the sisters are chased through Christendom until they arrive in Venice. It is in this great maritime empire, where opulence rhymes with tolerance, that Isabel organizes secret passages for refugees fleeing the Inquisition while Clara falls in love with a Venetian noble, Paolo Zane. Isabel intends for her family to go to Istanbul, the only place where Jews can live freely, but Clara is reluctant to leave. She challenges Isabel's authority and is prepared to break her family ties and sacrifice her faith for love.
